About Licensing Matters
Our director, Gill Sherratt, is
an ex-police officer who spent
5 years as a licensing officer. That is to say experience
in not only licensing paperwork and the law but in the practical
side of policing licensed premises.
 |
She was responsible for arranging large
scale test purchase operations (to catch out venues that
were selling alcohol to under age children), prosecuting
licensees who didn’t take their role seriously enough
and representing the police in Magistrates' court. The
list goes on and on. What more could you ask for from
someone looking after your interests? |
Our company was formed because others didn’t
seem to think that licensing really mattered. Gill’s
vast experience of dealing with all things licensing showed
her that of those representing the industry, there were few
specialists. Licensing seemed to be a lower priority and perhaps
not given the importance it deserved. Gill could see the industry
needed help and Licensing Matters was born.
Licensing Matters has been involved in the
new Licensing Act from the start and there is little about
this act that we have not already dealt with. We think it’s
fair to say that we know it inside out, upside down and back
to front.
While based in the North West we work countrywide
and have processed hundreds of applications on behalf of clients
from all around England & Wales. One client once commented
that we 'treat every premises as if it were our own', and
that is exactly how it is!
